How to Become a Surrogate
If you want to help childless couples and individuals recognize their dream of becoming parents, you might decide to become a surrogate mother. Some women get into being a surrogate for the compensation, which can be quite high. There are various situations where you may find yourself wanting to be a surrogate for a couple or individual. You may decide you want to do it for the money, but in many cases women who become surrogate mothers have a genuine desire to help others become parents. In any case the surrogate mother is given high quality, fully paid medical care before, during and after the birth.
Becoming a surrogate is not always an easy process. The first thing you need to do if you want to be a surrogate is find the right agency. These agencies often handle surrogacy, egg and sperm donation, and in-vitro fertilization. And, you'll need to know the laws about becoming a surrogate in your area. These are things you can find out by performing Web research. By using a major search engine to look up this information you can discover the requirements for surrogate mothers, how the process works and the agencies in your area and/or surrounding area. Most agencies are in larger cities, there should be one somewhere within a few hours even if you are in a small town.
Once you decide you do want to be a surrogate, make a list of the agencies within traveling distance that you want to check out. Not only should you visit and review each agency's website, you should make an appointment for a face-to-face consultation once you've narrowed your list down to the top three agencies (or less) that you are considering. The process of becoming a surrogate mother takes time but is worth it for many women.
The next step to become a surrogate is sign a legal contract with an agency. Your profile will be available to the couples who are looking for a surrogate mother with the same agency. Once you are selected you will be notified and the surrogacy process via in-vitro fertilization will begin. The real journey begins once the embryo begins to grow in your uterus, and continues for the next nine months. Make sure you understand your rights, if any, to the child you are carrying.
